Maggie Valley, North Carolina sits at the convergence of the Great Smoky Mountains and the Blue Ridge Mountains. At the
lowest point the valley sits at 3,100 feet in elevations and the surrounding mountains rise above 5,000 feet. The 2,000 foot change in elevation from the floor of the valley to the mountain tops can mean as much as a 16 degree temperature change at any point
during the year. While the valley may be a warm 80 degrees the temperature on the surrounding mountains can be in the high 60's. So even in the dog days of summer, air conditioning may not be needed depending on where the home is located.
Maggie Valley sits centrally located for a lot of regional activities. To the east you can find Asheville, and its eclectic social life, The Biltmore Estate and Winery (America's Largest Home), multiple museums, crafts breweries, and more.
To the west, adventure awaits with the Cherokee Indian Reservation, Harrahs Casino, and further west whitewater rafting and the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad.
To the north is the Great Smoky Mountain National park. One the largest untouched forests in the United States. The park has limited roads, so hiking is the best way to see its wonders.
Maggie Valley itself is home to some interesting attractions. Wheels Through Time is a world class motorcycle museum featuring many classic rides that all work. New to town is the Elevated Mountain Distillery offering tours of the facility. In the winter
you can find excitement on the slopes of Cataloochee Ski Area and if that a little steep for you, try snow tubing at Tube World.
